Žanis Lipke Luncheon

Žanis Lipke was a dockworker from Riga, Latvia. He didn’t have money, power, or status. Yet, this humble man was able to help 55 Jews escape from the Riga Ghetto and the Kaiserwald Concentration Camp during the Holocaust in Nazi-occupied Latvia.

Cory McLeod creator of the Žanis Lipke - VR Documentary, a project developed by Fallon Minneapolis in collaboration with the Lipke Memorial Museum in Riga, Latvia, will talk about Lipke, and the history he uncovered while creating the immersive, nonlinear historic documentary.

This is a free event, but limited to 20 participants. A $15.00 box lunch will be provided by Zeitgeist Restaurant and Bar - payment can be made at the event. RESERVE YOUR SEAT

Riki's Pretty Gritty City Tour

Starting in year one, (2010), Riki McManus (Upper Midwest Film Office) organized a big ol’ van for visiting filmmaker, bounced them around the region’s location highlights, stuffed them full of Anchor Burgers, and sent them back to the festival with the best kind of sensation… inspired ambition.

This year, Riki will be showing off locations in Duluth, and on a second tour, locations in the Iron Range. This is a first-come-first-serve event. You can request a spot on Riki’s bus by stopping by the UMFO filmmaker’s lounge and talking to an UMFO representative.
