DULUTH — The Duluth Superior Film Festival has announced its 2022 lineup, led by a new feature starring Guy Pearce and directed by Minneapolis-based filmmaker Andrew Hunt.

"The Infernal Machine," which opens the festival on Sept. 22, has Pearce as a reclusive author who's forced to confront a horrific act of violence inspired by his novel. The film, which is being distributed by Paramount, is having a two-day Minnesota premiere that also includes a Sept. 21 screening in St. Louis Park under the auspices of the Twin Cities Film Festival.

"I am beyond thrilled that Minneapolis and Duluth get to be first in line to watch our film on the big screen,” said Hunt in a statement. The director will be present at the Duluth screening, taking place at the West Theatre. "The Infernal Machine" opens nationwide on Sept. 23.
