Bough Brothers

Directed by Nickolaus Swedlund

Bough Brothers is a story of reconciliation between two brothers after their father’s death. Centered around the annual balsam bough harvest in Northern Minnesota, these brothers are put face to face with the demons of their family’s past while trying to re-establish a bond with one another after more than a decade without contact.

It is also the story of a significant tradition and economic factor in Northern Minnesota, the Balsam Bough Harvest. Every year, tens of thousands of pounds of balsam fir boughs are trimmed and sold to wreath-making companies around the Midwest. After the death of their father, brothers Mitch and Tommy work through their grief by carrying on the tradition of their family's week-long bough harvest.
